dang, how much power was that making at 25psi? What gave way? Head gasket?
I’ve always wanted to do a turbo i6 build with a 300. I imagine i’d keep the psi’s down a bit or longevity though...

Felt ~400hp to me and twist.
I think it finally squeezed a ring into a piston. I'll have it apart this week.

So now we finally have the answer to what will kill a 300, haha. It seems I only ever read stories about how unkillable they are.

Pretty unkillable. I pulled this one out of a dumptruck with 300,000+ miles. I didn’t touch the bottom end when I started throwing boost at it. Also in the 5 years that I have owned it I only changed the oil once and that was when I first turbo’d it...........2 years ago.

What size turbocharger were you using? Hopefully by next year my truck will be retired from daily duties and then I can start doing stupid stuff like this too.

I’ve been thinking about this with one of my Slant 6's. I would also convert to MegaSquirt at the same time. I’m thinking of a 16G for the turbo and use some of my old LS parts for the injectors and coils. Converting my distributor for the cam position and using the balancer and a pickup for the crank position. The only thing I don’t have worked out is the throttle body. I have a plethora of intakes in various carb patterns, but the only think I can find will be way too big for the engine. I don’t really want on/off throttle.

My very first truck was a ‘65 D100 with a slant 6. Loved it.
I went super easy on the 300. FiTech 600hp Power Adder and a MSD 6AL-2 Programmable. Those two made tuning super easy.

Please update with carnage. A turbo 300 is at the top of my list for engine choices once I get started on my F3, would be interesting to know where the first weak point is on a turbo build.

Nope, figured the rings were worn out enough for me on a 300,
000+ mile engine.
They were. I only wanted 15psi out of it before it died but it gave me 10 more out of the goodness of its heart.

As someone that’s seriously considering turboing his ‘90 300 , I both do and don’t want to know what you aren’t reusing...
Also, how many miles did the 300 survive being forced fed?

Nothing is going to be staying with me. I am getting ready to put a 2J in my F100 in place of this.
As two how many miles. It lasted 2 year and ~10000 miles. All of them brutal, 2-step launches, burnouts, no oil changes, 6700rpm 90% of them time. It was a ton of fun!
