Surely you could. I’m 5'11" and all leg and I fit into an NA just fine.

You’re 17 Miatas high with your feet on the ground and your head in the sky!

A one piece race seat solves the miata tall person problem, sitting both significantly lower and further back. Race seats can be bolted directly to floor for the tall enough to be NBA player crowd, netting another 3 or 4 inches of head room.

$7,500 doesn’t seem like a lot of money for that. Then again, I know nothing about the used car market.

Tonneaus are kind of a throw back to classic european roadsters that tops and sometimes side curtains that weren’t quick or easy to attach when it rained. The idea was the tonneau kept the interior dry why you waited out the rain at the pub or wherever .
On a miata, the idea was that they worked for light rain, and I’m told a solo driver can also use it to keep a pocket of warm air around their legs and toroso for winter top down motoring. They’re a pretty uncommon anachronism on a miata, where the top the raises and lowers in seconds and it fully watertight. They were a dealer-installed option back in the day, and Robbins will still sell you one if for some reason you want a tonneau.

Yup I actually posted about this one about a month ago . Great minds think alike.

I can only picture that making a loud flapping noise while driving.

I tried once to drive an NA and it was a no-go. I am 6'4" tall and was around 175 at the time so with another 20 lbs on my now there is no way.

I mean that’s the easy button. I want to enjoy those fine OEM red leather seats.

I’ve never heard how well they actually work, but I’m sure you’re right above a certain speed. FWIW, the factory top boot on an NA only really starts flapping above about 65 mph.

Fair enough. Not to say one couldn’t easily have an upholstery shop make some nice red, or black and red covers for a race seat out of whatever material one fancies. And actually, a rally seat is what the miata shop usually installed for tall miata drivers. The more open profile of the lower bolsters towards the front of the seat is lot easier to get in and out of for a driven on the street car.

These cars do nothing for me, but I gotta admit that's pretty cool. Of course I am 6'4 and no, I don't fit.

How long is your inseam? I am 6'2" with a 30-31" inseam and I fit in an NA/NB Miata. NA is actually roomier than NB, because the console and door panels are thinner, and less intrusive. NC is reportedly a bit bigger of a car, but the interior again, gets more intrusive with thicker door cards, larger console, thicker seat padding, etc...
I don’t fit at all in ND Miata, like head-sticking-out above the windshield kind of not-fitting.
Also, don’t gauge by the passenger seat... unless you intend to be a passenger. Driver’s seat width, height, and leg-room are usually a very slight bit better.
That red LE interior, with the tonneau cover, that is what I would start with, if I were going for a Simpson Design Italia kitted Miata.

I want a car like this as a non-winter daily. I would love something that could break into the 20's mpg wise for a change. obviously keep the cruiser but something like this tickles my fancy for sure.

If I could fit in a Miata there would be one in my garage right now. I’m not fond of the seat switch
out idea so I can fit.
