Assuming you live at a flying distance from Florida, a vacation in Portugal shouldn’t really be much more expensive. Plan it right and the airline tickets will be acceptable. Everything else is, relatively, cheap in Portugal.

me dad was british.. growing up i spent me holidays with the rest of the family in crawley... then i got old enough to move there for a year or 10 (well horsham.. close enough) and now im back in the lowlands

Ahhh, okay, awkward. I’ll back away from that. Sorry.

The 60-70s were a crazy time, well, everywhere really. In the U.K. a time of free thinking for some while looking down on them by others. Factories were more militant and the general life of what was being British changed.
