I am only considering styling, not mechanical aptitude.

SVX

Kinja'd!!!

R32

Kinja'd!!!

I think I’d rather drive the R32 but that SVX wins in the looks department for me with the lower ride height and more connected canopy. At the same time it’s very cool to see how the styling trends from this era are expressed by two different manufacturers.

Svx hands down, the design is more daring

SVX, and it’s not even close. (Full disclosure: I don’t think Skylines look good in general).

I think I appreciate the R32 styling a bit more, the SVX feels a bit too 90's round bubbly styling in the corners.

R32 - I will NEVER appreciate those stupid windows on the SVX.

SVX vs a toaster.. hmm, the toaster is fast, and the SVX is auto.. A lot of people like toast, and the SVX is probably broken.

I’m still going with the SVX.

Both look good, but the SVX is the clear winner for me. I love how low and sleek it looks, especially the nose . Such a contrast from the angular XT it replaced.

R32. It’s a less busy, better put together product. I feel even stronger about when I’ve seen the cars in person.

Just think of how much engagement that video would create

As much as I love the SVX, t he R32 will always get my vote.

The SVX my step father bought needed a new transmission at 90k. Otherwise it was just regular maintenance. My mom sold it at 130k with the notion that the next thing that broke would break the bank.

For me, it's the R32. The windows on the SVX kill it in the looks department for me.

I’ll take both. SVX as a cruiser and the R32 as the fast one.

The svx is a wonderful cruiser. It has plenty of power to get you into go to jail speeds but at the same time has a very good ride quality and high speed road holding. One thing the SVX does not like to change direction quickly due to it’s heft.

Manual swaps for the SVX are well documented and the old H6 makes a glorious scream when straightpiped so I would take the SVX in a heartbeat.

SVX before anything else. Not many place you can get the Giugaro style on a budget, and Subaru H6 motors make a glorious noise that’s barely even similar to a Porsche, so it’s wholly unique.

We had a neighbour who’s comic-guy live-at-home-son bought an SVX as his first car. I cringed every time he drove it but it never died.. All my Subaru forum know how was being tested daily by this terrible green car that maybe wasn’t terrible?

Even now when I see an SVX being driven, its usually a elderly golf lady running errands.. I have yet to see a SVX enthusiast in the wild..

IIRC the only real weak points in the car was it’s transmission and tendency to eat tires. Otherwise it was just as reliable as any other car from the early 1990's and much better than anything GM or Ford were making at the time.

Add rear wheel bearings to the list, and you pretty much have it.
