Less than $3k. ‘Because racecar’ interior conversion already started. Exterior in matching pre-crashed racecar condition.

Is the worst of the damage that fender pictured? Any frame damage?

Terrible idea. You can get a non-crushed, fully interior’d NB for that money. Better aftermarket too if you want to go down the stripped race-car route.

Just updated with a link to the ad.

The interior sort of matches my Mazda5 (same color, no less) ; I took out some interior bits back in 2014 for some audio upgrades and, well, they're still in the living room...

ALMOST ALL OF OUR VEHICLES ARE CLASSIFIED AS REPAIRABLE, AND MAY CONTAIN BODY, MECHANICAL AND OR FLOOD DAMAGE.

Hmmmm... Cheap is good, but that they start with that as a blanket disclaimer isn’t a good sign.

$1,000 and not a penny more, I would assume previous owners insurance totaled it, for a good reason.

I’d almost rather have a late NA, preferably a special edition of some sort, for the same money, to be left intact. I was just a little surprised at how cheap NCs are getting, but that’s probably because I didn’t realize that they were on the market for so many years . The first Miata I ever drove new was an NC, and that was back in 2014.

Agreed on the NA, but we seem to have gotten to the point where clean NA s are consistently more expensive than clean NB s. NC pricing is strange. There are plenty of people asking insane money for them ($14,000 for a 100,000 mile '08 NC? Good luck) and plenty that are far below 5 digits. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason

Is Miata really the best start for race car unles it’s for a spec series?

Horrible idea. Buy an old gen Mazda for the same money in decently good condition.

I thought it was a much newer model when I first saw the price. I didn't realize the NC had such a long run in the market (thanks, Ford...)
