Imma need a few minutes to be alone now...
This is the exact same color that my ‘65 Buick was in HS (mine was a Skylark ‘vert, white top/tan interior).
Just look at this interior:

What a big beauty.

GM made some really beautiful cars during that era, but I don’t think any of them can really beat that Riviera. It’s just so right.

They did - but to me (and a lot of others) this one was the best. And without question, the ‘65 model was the best of the bunch. It finally got the hidden headlights that should have been on the ‘63-64 cars.

Everything about it is just right. It’s gonna go for way more than I could afford, sadly.

This MPG gauge would be right at home in the SRT Durango’s I’ve been eyeing

Hidden headlights, dual quad carbs, this was one of the cars I fell in love with from a calendar as a kid, never saw one in person until just a few years ago. Beautiful car!

Edit - wait it’s in vacuum ( inches). Ok, well still...

It’s sort of a cool period thing, but I’d rather it wasn’t on this car, personally.

That’s beautiful.

I have to deduct a tad for no bench seat in the front. It makes for an extra step to move my date to the back seat. Other than that, perfection.

I hate to break it to you, but have a look at the back seat - that might be a dealbreaker for you then...

Now I have a sad because you actually own the M5 and me no gots the dual quad Riv...

I had a 1965 Buick Wildcat coupe back in the 1980's. It only had the 401 with the single carb - but it would get up and go.
This Riv is gorgeous. Would love to open it up and hear those dual carbs sucking in ALL the air.

the down side is the Nailhead is a wheezer of an engine (I don’t for a second believe its “gross” hp/torque ratings.) The layout of the valvetrain made for awful, awful exhaust ports:

Oh. Well...it still has a huge trunk, so...

I will help you steal the Riv ;)

This is 60's style done to absolute perfection. I absolutely love it. Coincidentally, last night I watched the episode of Comedians in cars getting coffee that featured a '65 Riviera.

For a long time, Buick drivetrains seemed to be developed on a different planet from the rest of GM. The Nailhead had pretty good low-end torque, but ran out of breath very quickly thanks to that valvetrain - low-end torque is about all that Buick was shooting for at the time. Which was probably good for their target customer, but it led to weak headline numbers (and no doubt is why all their engines were labeled with torque figures, not HP or displacement).
360 *gross* HP from a 425 CID engine was hardly breathtaking in 1965 - and fairly weak for a dual quad motor. I believe Chevy was getting that from the 348 in the late ‘50s with a 3x2 setup, and the high end 327's were topping that by ‘64.
I didn’t think Buick was massaging numbers at that point, but t o your point, I suspect that 2nd carburetor wasn’t adding much to the party.

For the drive in, the ‘64 deuce and a quarter ‘vert I linked a week or so ago is the one you want!

Ok, meet me in Annandale, VA around midnight tomorrow night

Convertible is usually gonna be my choice when parking in a remote location to make out. You can choose up or down depending on the weather and scenery. E xcept around Halloween. Everyone knows a cloth top makes it too easy for an axe murderer to get at you while you’re defenseless.

Hmm, I need to catch up with that show - I haven’t seen the last couple of seasons...

Make mine a 66.... and I am right with you.
if somehow this car had the boat-tail... it might even be near Peak American Car Design overall.
66-67 Rivie is better looking than the rest, except for the boat tail part of the 71-73... but I don’t like the rest of the car aside from the boat tail bit even close to the 66-67 early 2nd generation Riviera.
