Tried to go out for a nice, relaxing drive. BOOM! Someone kicked up a rock the size of a meteorite. It’s actually broken all the way through.
Quarter for scale. Freaking huge...

Isn’t safelite crap? I’ve never used them, but I’ve always heard that they use cheap/thin/low-quality glass.

I’ve used them twice, once to repair a ding, the other to replace a windshield. It was OEM (W210 E55 AMG has unique tint and rain sensor, I wouldn’t want an aftermarket part) , but I think I had to pay extra for it. No issues.

Does your insurance cover it without it affecting your no claims?

Yes. They wrecked the paint on my hood/roof/fenders, did a shitty install job, and put the wipers back on wrong (wonderful discovery the next time it rained). All attempts to get in touch about it were blown off with “we’ll get back to you” which they of course never did.

Damn that’s quite a rock. If nothing else, a new windshield is always very satisfying for a while with no scratches or chips.

In most of Canada that’s

And here in Quebec it’s

Yes as it’s a comprehensive claim not a collision claim, so assuming he has full coverage, it will be covered.
