I was doing some reading about the combination CEL and TCS lights that came up on my 2003 Odyssey today. And I found this video.

At least your transmission  hasn’t gone out yet? IIRC, the 2003 was the last year susceptible to it.

Fun, satisfying and relatively easy. Too bad you live so far away.

EGR is the work of the devil! I know that it helps meeting emissions standards, but who in their right mind thought it would be a great idea to pump soot back into the engine?????

Wow. Wonder if he always got el-cheapo gas or if he went for name-brand stuff. Also wonder how much WOT time it got.

May not be the problem. May be. No idea.

Well, in all fairness, that’s a lot of soot that didn’t make it into the air.

Let me just scrape this soot out onto the engine......

My thought as well. I also would have replaced that gasket.

Why can't we have catch cans?

Consider buying this device .

Pull the code yourself and google it. Also, text me the code or screen shot the app and let me ask my friend.

You sent me a scanner some years ago. If I can find it, I’ll try to get a code. I think I know where it is....

It’s premature to assume anything.

It could be due to the previous owner never changed the oil and it was an oil burner. Or maybe its the toll you need to pay when you drive a car 190k miles for short commutes in the city . Meanwhile 9 out of 10 drivers put electrical tape over the CEL and drive it for another 100,ooo miles while not changing the oil .

Let me phrase this — “ Oh the horror, I didn’t replace the engine once or the transmission twice on my Honda , but let me tell you about the 3 hour labor bill plus gasket to clean the EGR path....Meanwhile my dad’s ‘11 Subaru Outback seems to be losing a head gasket at 110,ooo miles.

We are so spoiled compared to 40 years ago when if the car ran at all at 100k miles it was a miracle....

I love mine. I’m not looking forward to replacing it.
