My google skills are failing me and my math skills have been failing me since 1st grade so I need some help. Does anyone know the formula to convert toe from measurements (the front/rear of a 13" rim to a string parallel to the centerline of the car) into degrees? As far as I understand it should be some simple trigo nometry but I can’t find anything about it.

Thanks! Classic IndyCars for your time!

i just put the lines into CAD and use the measure degree tool and let it do the math for me

That’s very helpful, thanks!

inverse tangent of the toe in (in inches) divided by the wheel rim (in inches) to degrees
tan-1(.25/13)=1.1 degrees toe in per side. Watch out for radians

In google:

“ inverse tangent (.25/13) to degrees”

Thanks! How would one input that in a calculator that has sin/cos/tan buttons?

picture of said calculator?

usually there’ll be a “2nd” function, and behind tan will be tan-1.

Or, literally, type it into google and the answer pops up

(arctan (.25/13))*(180/pi), something like that. Depending on the calculator might use tan^-1 instead.

I was mainly thinking of the iPhone calculator. Would it be tanh or is that something else?

Tanh is different. See what happens when you hit 2nd

Oh! It switches to tan-^1
