Well, Ho Chi Minh was more of a Vietnamese nationalist/anti-colonialist rather than a committed C ommunist. If we had just told the French to get out in the first place, there’s a good chance Vietnam never embraces C ommunism.

It’s fascinating how many reports (many by Julia child’s) were coming out of SE Asia in 44-46 on how shit wax about to hit the fan, that were completely ignored. It wasn’t until the early 70 when Vietnam was spiraling down that they were finally opened

It’ll probably end up being like the Chinese GP. A tiny area where capitalists are shown to the rich residents. Then you have the capitalists who get to see that tiny area say it’s a, “developing market” but miss out on the rest of the poverty. That’s exactly what happens in Beijing.
