I try not to buy into stereotypes but dammit, Ireland, you make that difficult when you go and put a liquor store right in the terminal.

I’ve never skipped this many time zones at once before and my brain is all confused. It’s 6am here but my body thinks it’s midnight but I’ve been up since 6am NYC  time so I ’m simultaneously wired and exhausted.

That’s not so fair, every international airport has a liquor store. I’m sure you can find plenty of other good things to stereotype though!

Not in the U.S. I've been most east coast international hubs and have never seen a liquor store.

If your staying in Dublin. Go to the Teeling distillery.

It’s not far away from the Guinness distillery.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve not been to either. But I can vouch for Guinness and Teeling (their Single grain is so smooth).

Just a layover, unfortunately. Flight to Venice leaves in an hour.

Is it true that when you get Guinness in Ireland it's different than the bottled Guinness other countries get?

Then what are you waiting for. Get back to the shop and get a bottle of single grain and stick it in your hold luggage to take to Italy, or get one on the way back.

I’m afraid you haven’t been paying attention... Every international terminal will have a Duty Free shop selling mostly alcohol (sometimes more than one) .

Some examples:

Logan:

You could argue you found a fancier one (honestly, there are better examples here too , but photography is limited), but the point is that this is a normal thing. Every international terminal will sell liquor, because being able to buy it duty-free means that even after the airport markup, it may be a good deal. Logan for example has multiple shops in every terminal (though some focus on beauty products rather than alcohol), though their offerings are a bit more limited since Logan isn’t an international hub in the way a JFK/EWR/PHL is.

Every international terminal I’ve been to in the US has duty free liquor for sale.

I’m in far northern England but I’ve been a Guinness drinker for many years and found Feeling whiskey about three years ago, so going to either or both of these distilleries would be heaven for me.

Sorry I can’t help other than recommending some distilleries.

The OPPO you need is ‘Ce he sin’. He’s in country and a wealth of information on cars, engines and trains.

The problem is, they all reek of perfume because that’s the other thing that duty free shops sell a lot of!
