I have no idea what’s with it. But painting the name on the front bumper? Sick.

The backwards name is so the person in front can see the name of what’s following them in the rear view mirror.
Otherwise, sweet little van...they were fun.

Nice Escort Mk2 van. The side windows look odd, like they were added later on.

Ford often pro vided the windows as a dealer fitted option. So did other manufacturers. Happens a lot in Australian spec vans even now...

It wasn’t an un common thing to give small vans like the Escort van, side windows later on in the vans life so the work van could be utilised for taking the family out on trips and save the cost of buying, maintaining, etc... an additional vehicle.
Seems (looking at Google images) that Australia had their own style of adding windows.
There was the Mk2 3 door estate which had a single side window.
But it was cheaper and more economical to take a used van and add windows for above said reason.

Ye’, as I said to Nauraushaun, it wasn’t uncommon for people to convert a work vehicle to be able to take families out rather than buy a second vehicle.
The Aussie one looks like a common thing as looking around they seem relatively common in appearance. So as you say these may of been the dealership options rather than the single piece U.K. estate version or the after market ‘done by a mate’.
