There is a nearly unreachable cubby in the back of the door pocket. I almost lost my wallet in it, and I had to retrieve it with pliers. So like the Fiesta, the GTI also has a pit of doom.
But really I just wanted to post a picture. Or two.
Maybe 3.
It also has the same ugly wind deflector for the sunroof as the Azera.

Love the color combo. A dark teal-green like that works well with a tiny splash of bright red. And the wheels are cool. I like it. Good.

I love it, though I can’t help but to wonder what a set of dark grey RPF1's would look like on it.

Call it a “pit of despair”, if you like.

Very sharp car. I’m hoping to test drive an Alltrack in Great Falls Green this weekend.

Wonder no more.
Pretty good I think. On RPF’s the center cap and lug nuts
can make a big
difference, too.

Yes MK6 has that also, I once tore the house and car apart before finding it there.

In some parts of Europe it’s a requirement you keep a hi-vis vest in the car, namely the door bin so if you break down, etc... at night you can put it on before you get out the car rather than get out of the car, walk around to the boot, open the tailgate and then put it on.

This just seems to be an afterthought though, there is no easy access to it.

Thanks, and not thanks because now I want to spend money.

But where’s the pics of said pit?

Question for you, how is the overall “feel” compared to the FiST? One of the things that concerns me is that the Alltrack will end up being the FoST for me and I’ll be tired of it in a year, mostly because it felt like a fast economy car. I know the Alltrack isn’t fast, but I also hope it doesn’t feel like an economy car.

Depends on what kind of feel you mean? Material feel is night and day, it’s just a nice place to be. Driving feel is... honestly better. I’ve heard review after review calling the GTI the boring choice, and the Fiesta is the fun true hot hatch, but after a couple of thousand miles now, I just don’t see it. Just chucking it around a corner and keep pulling due to the diff, even on crap tires, is hilarious.
It definitely can be a boring economy car(though a nicer place to be than most), but change modes and it’s hilarious. I can’t honestly recommend an ST anymore now that I’ve seen the light, and experienced Ford’s shitty quality.

I used it as a hole to stuff plastic bags into for easy reach.

Give me a few.

It’s the same on my Skoda.
A folded hi-vis vest is quite easily reachable if needed. Granted you have to twist and reach around yourself to get it. Also if you don’t have one in your car, anything you put in the door bin can get lost quite easily.

Ya gotta sp
end money to make money. Or something.
Maybe, I dunno.

If that’s all you can find wrong with it, then you picked a winner. Congrats.

I actually REALLY liked that wind deflector.

It does it’s job, but it’s hideous.

I really like that color.

Would look better with an old-school sunroof that tilts up.

It does tilt up, but it goes back too.

My old 2011 GTI had the same pit. Great for storing winter gloves and still having room for bottles or other items!
Tip: no need to use pliers to get items out. A good, hard press of the brake pedal whil e at speed does a great job bringing items to the front of the door pocket.

It’s one of them pannerammers, right?
![]() 10/04/2018 at 19:30 |

Not quite, it’s big, but it only goes to the back of the front seats.

This does not help if you are already parked and need your wallet.

That color is fantastic. If I were to roll the VW reliability dice and get a GTI that would probably be the color I chose.

I rolled the American car maker dice and failed, so I guess I’ll try German. The Mk7's seem pretty solid.

Can’ t really argue with that logic

Part of me genuinely considered a new GTI before I bought my ZHP. Some dealers in the DC area were selling them with nice discounts, of course base GTI’s with manuals. Having something newer with a warranty might have been the smarter choice, but now I see the writing on the wall for N/A manual BMW’s, and I’m glad I got it.
Effing love that color though, glad you got it.

I always wonder how someone can buy a competitor of the GTI after actually driving the GTI. It’s really just about the perfect fun commuter.

I do love that color. There’s a Golf wagon at my work in that color and it’s great in person, too. Of course it is. If my wife hadn’t ended up with a Mini, I’d have been pushing her toward one of those (I already was, when she found a great deal on a Mini) in that color, specifically.

Now it’s a race to the first CEL.

Lol yes it’s on. My wife’s is a ‘15 that had 8,000 miles on it. Near as makes no difference to new, if you ask me.
It HAS been to the dealer for an a/c drain leaking into the floor. But that was easily resolved.... still.
