Kinja'd!!!

My 13 year old truck just had it’s door rust from the inside out and unzip itself on the bottom seam. I miss California cars. What are the chances of finding a PS2 color 2006 Ram regular cab front door? I can find quads easily enough. But it seems like days are numbered. Hopefully I can get five more years out of it to get the current Canyons and Colorado prices down a bit more within reach.

That generation of Rams are terrible for rust. My 25 year old F150 has less rust than my buddies Ram from that generation. And I have twice the mileage on my truck than he does.

Depends how they’re taken care of.

My grandpa’s Ram finally got bedside bubbles last year, which we fixed. It’s an 06 with 225k Wisconsin miles.

The bottom of the drivers door of my ‘06 Sierra isn’t too far behind. Here are t he remains of my brake lines that just got changed out.

Was this all preventative, or did it spring a leak?

Yeah, my  truck could use a door too. And fender, and cab corner...

Yep, pretty bad.

I blew a line right as we were pulling away for the Gambler 500-Illinois Saturday morning.  First stop sign from my buddy’s house, the brake pedal hit the floor.  Not pictured was a trans cooler line that was also really rusty, and dripping fluid.

(Whoops, obviously I hadn’t read your recent Gambler post yet when I typed that.) I hope Birddog took a good look at his own brake lines after that haha.

No worries. It’s a looooooong one. Usually I write out the days events, and then cut things out ... I didn’t cut anything out this time.

Briddog's Sub has a lot more rust than mine, so I bet the lines have already been changed. He was under it the day before changing the transmission shift solenoid.

My truck might float with all the great stuff making up the rockers and fenders.

Yea and that’s the problem, you need to stay on top of it to keep them rust free

Same goes for most vehicles.

What I mean is kept to the same level of care the Rams seem to rust earlier. My truck is washed maybe once a year and kept outside often so it’s not babied yet has much less rust than my buddies truck which is probably pretty similarly cared for and his rockers are almost completely gone, wheel wells are getting bad, and doors are starting to rust.

Honestly, I see so many vehicles far newer than the Rams in question that are rotted, I think it’s all about the owner.

Ram owners in general don’t take care of their stuff from my experience, so it would make sense they rot out sooner.
