Work is boring today. I keep thinking, “I’m tired and hungry.” I just realized I am bored. I am glad I am bored and not stressed. | At home I am working on replacing our current rotting shed with a 30 foot by 8 1/2 foot shed to hold the rowing scull I inherited from my step dad. My wife expressed concern over my ability to do this. I think I will put this into CAD to triple check my design because I keep finding errors and changing things. Now I will need to pick from Onshape, SolidBreaks, Google Sketch Up, or Quera?

Here is a boat for your reference. These are ones you can buy new. Mine is about 26 years old. I was trying to figure out the rowing weight for my boat. It looks like I should
lose 20 lbs. That is what the doctor said would be a good weight for me anyway.

You do already know how to scull, right?
You really can’t just jump on one of these and go rowing without any experience

Yeah. My step-dad taught me how to row when I was about 13. I rowed in high school and tried to row in college, but it wa
s too busy of a schedule for me with classes. I have not been in a scull for 9 years now, so it will be a few weeks of arms only building my form back up.

do it in Sketchup, doing it in 3-d will help catch more errors and its free. you can put in every stud or post or however you plan on building it. I’’ve used it for a bunch of home projects and for work every day.

Just a side note. You would not believe how big rowing machines with power meters have gotten. Do not be surprised if this journey brings you into contact with people who are CrossFit levels of insane in this direction. Maybe that is a slight exaggeration.

+1 for Sketchup - it’s also web-based now, so will work on Linux, Mac or Windows. The small parts I’ve designed for my car (snow brush holder clips / custom
wheel center caps)
and had 3D printed were done in Sketchup as it can export to a few different file types.
