We’ve all seen the bro dozers, mall-crawlers, and pampered full size luxury rigs.
But how would you spec out a work truck? I mean back of the farm, abused, neglected, and beat on its entire life.
Here’s mine: Red, 2500/250 w/ diesel, cloth seats, 4x4, single cab, long bed, locking rear axle, snow plow prep. Nothing else.
I’m currently torn between a manual Ram, a Sierra with manual windows, and a regular old Ford.
$46,150 as shown!
$44,352 as shown!
$48,775 as shown!
What does your truck build look like? No leather allowed.

I’ll take a blue crew cab longbed 2500HD Silverado diesel. I added the convenience package, a spray-on bedliner, snow plow prep and towing packages, 18" steelies (I like their wagon-wheel-like design), and screw it I’m paying more for blue because I want blue. $53,400.

Wish they sold more of a stripped out Power Wagon.

They do - Go into the builder and select a Tradesman CC / SB. Then you can add the PW option. It works out about $3k cheaper.

What? Hidden build and price things. So you pay an extra $4k for the grill, HIDs, wheels and the stickers(if you want them).
Now if you could get it in a regular cab that would knock another $4k of the price.

Since I’ve had a stellar(horrible fucking piece of shit engine) experience with the Duramax, I’m gonna go with a crew cab Ram with the Cummins and Aisin auto combo.

a mere $49k for a truck with manual windows? that’s a steal if i ever saw it!
and people say trucks are overpriced these days...

The only options ticked are Cummins/6MT, Popular Equipment Group, dual alternators and spray-in bedliner.

This is the correct answer. Because manual and green.

The good news is the final price will be 10k less than the MSRP.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
$30,210
LSD
3.55 axle ratio
Towing equipment including electric mirrors
vinyl interior
I also tried to spec out a Ford, but it ran up to $35,255 to get what I wanted and the only colors were red and blue.

I’m not sure I’d ever buy a new truck for hard use. Even if it is as base as it can get, and I know it’s just a farm truck I’d feel bad every time I scratched it or dented it. Give me an OBS Ford with a diesel (even the IDI is fine), run it forever, never worry about dents or scratches. I can buy five of those for the price of one new truck, and they’ll still last forever.

The new turbo diesels are so freaking awesome. I’d probably go with Ferd but to each your own.

How come?

Super Duty with the 6.7L Diesel, extended cab, long bed, green or blue, 4X4, heavy payload and trailer packages. Hopefully the multi-camera setup, too.

Get rid of the bed and swap on one of those steel platform beds with the hidden fifth wheel hitch
