What’s your “dream car search” that always comes up empty?

4 and half hours to go.

I look for the CRX and Autotrader suggests to me the Fit.
No!

V8 RWD Manual Wagon/hatcback.
They pretty much don’t exist, apart from custom builds or engine swaps. So, I have the choice of forgetting about the V8 and RWD, forgetting about the manual trans, or forgetting about being able to haul anything.
Or, I could hold out until a CTS-V wagon becomes cheap, or try to turn a Wrangler into a wagon... or just continue to dream I guess.

I’ve driven a 2015 Fit both as a daily and at autocross. It weighs ~300 lbs less than my MR2 despite having more passenger & cargo capacity than an S63 AMG. It’s actually quite fun to drive.
I know the CRX gets all the MPGs and is even lighter, but autotrader really isn’t too far off with the Fit. It’s still got the lowest weight and highest gas-only mileage of any Honda on sale today.
That said, I’d take the CRX too given the chance :D

Please tell me you bid on it

I so wish.

The CRX ‘twas my dream since ‘91. But, my wife would have Fits about how much the repairs and upkeep would be on owning one.

Why do you do this to me, BaT???
8 cylinders
manual
wagon
not stanced
red
muffler delete (though that’s easy to do)
WAGON
That’s in “fuck it” pricing territory right now. If it was on the west coast I’d be in deep trouble...

A yellow, manual 88-89 Prelude 4WS that isn’t a rust bucket.

If Honda would just make a new CRX on the Fit chassis with the Civic Si engine, they would be back as an enthusiast brand. $40k Civic Type Rs aren’t accessible to most of the enthusiasts who want one.

My thoughts exactly.

I can count the number of XTs I’ve ever seen for sale on one finger. It’s such a cool car and it’s almost completely unavailable.

I mean, yeah, it’s a 1990 and it may or may not have 4WS. Also not yellow.
But, for that price you can make it run and make it yellow too.

If I weren’t all the way across the country I’d buy it. That color replaced the yellow for 90-91.

I worked at a Honda dealer in the 90-92 time frame, and 4WS Preludes were rare *then*. Although a surprising percentage actually were yellow.

Subaru SVX.
They appeared in numbers for a short time, and then disappeared.

Only the Biturbo V6 (technically a W6) version comes with more than 3 cylinders. :)

That is pretty damn sweet, and 95% of a dream daily driver (more displacement for me please).
Problem is, ‘95 is too old for latch car seats, and it sounds too much like a project car. (and I’m not completely ready to buy a new car yet, just doing the research)

That yellow is a nice color, but it ages horribly. It also does unreal things to the metal underneath.
![]() 01/25/2018 at 13:12 |

That color stood out nicely 25 years ago. It would really stand out from the crowd now all cars are required to be a shade of grey.

A friend of mine has a clean CRX in that color. It looks amazing.
![]() 01/25/2018 at 13:18 |

So, it’s an Si, then, right? Pretty sure that color was only available on the CRX Si and Prelude Si. Maybe the Civic Si, although I don’t think so.

Manual V70R that doesn’t have 175,000 miles and/or isn’t broken.
![]() 01/25/2018 at 13:22 |

Yeah, it is. I’ve only seen Civic Si’s of that era with green or red paint, but I think they also existed in black. Never seen yellow.

1957 chevy...... 2 door post, with a title. been thinking of finding one to gut, and play with, but they are all pretty well long gone. the 4 door shells are going for $1500-ish, so there IS that. but even a beat to death shell, with no running gear whatsoever, with swiss cheese floors, and quarters goes for at least $3k...... 1957 chevy 150 - $3000 (249/1960)
that and original model T tin. people are downright proud of thier buckets, and buckets of rust. i am only hunting for enough parts to put a mostly clean one together..... shouldnt be this hard. good thing its a LONG term project. its got a long ways to go before it NEEDS a body.

They did exist in black - pretty sure all 3 of the Si’s did. And I think the Civic Si in general was less common than the CRX Si was.

I know of one that’s rotting away in a field, I talked to the owner and he refuses to sell it. And a couple years ago I saw one on cl for less than 1k and it ran, but sadly it sold before I could get to it.

Can confirm the black on the Prelude Si, as I have one sitting in my garage right now. Sometimes I wonder if the 3rd gen Prelude was secretly co-developed by Germans, because they tend to have weird problems that are more common with German cars.

An E39 M5 wagon. BMW never made them, so the few that do exist are one-offs made by hardcore enthusiasts. I’ll eventually turn my 540it into an M5t as well, just need more money first.
