Deep down I know what this car is. It’s a 350hp V8, RWD, Manual, 4 seater with a big ass lift back. Essentially my dream car. And for less than 10 Grand. Less than the price of a very used Toyota Camry.

But it’s just so god damn tacky. I couldn’t handle driving this car because of the way it looks. And this is coming from a guy who is considering buying a 2012 Beetle. I would rearher drive a FWD BEELTE than this car, that is mechanically, everything I could hope for. Maybe I need to re-think this.

I always hated the WS6 hood....

The 1994 Anniversary Edition could be had with a similar paint scheme and has FAR more tasteful lines. Downside is the Optispark equipped LT1, but replacement Optisparks can be had on the cheap now...

I’m not a fan of 4th gens anyway, but Pontiacs add ones don’t help. It’s funny the guys making fun of Ricers with their big spoilers and body kits were the same guys driving cars like this.

I’ve never been big on those nostrils, but this is a heck of a car. The secret it to go all in and just own it. Go full mullet (metaphorically speaking). I mean just look at those hood stripes and the pop up headlights. It tells everyone in three counties that no one has ever been more serious about not taking themselves seriously.

LS WS6 T/As are a weakness of mine but that one is a bit icky. On the other hand a fire hawk hood isn’t that hard to find and it takes away a lot of the tackiness up front.

I test drove one years ago. IIRC it was a Formula Firebird and had the nicest exhaust. Quick too. But, the body had one to many movements and I couldn’t see past the interior. It made the Crossfire I bought seem luxurious.

Don’t be too bummed. It was a 3.8L car, cracked dash, cloth seats, crank windows.. as base model as they came. I don’t even think an LT1 would bolt up to the 5 speed trans. Also the camaro wheels are 16" fwiw.

Those fog lights are a pain in the ass to change without taking the bumpers off is what they are.

(It requires you to move them in an elaborately choreographed 3D motion)
