and i still can’t decide which color is better

the gold one has a coat of clear on it and the orange doesn’t.

Gold looks more classic to me, this is one of few occasions it really works in.

but personally... i’d repaint the orange one a nice metallic blue or something and go for mismatched covers (but thats just my taste)

Are you using paint suited to high temperatures? I’m not sure, but I would wonder that a lot of regular off-the-shelf paint would crack and peel when subjected to the types of heat an engine creates. I could totally be wrong though.

I always used to go the powdercoat route myself, but I totally get that it’s a more expensive and time-consuming process.

Gold. If the clear coat yellows over time you won’t notice as much.

Sort of, the primer and clear weren’t high temp paint, but these are only test covers anyways.
