Not my pic, but we were at a wedding near Tacoma, WA and an AWACS bird was shooting touch and goes out of McChord AFB. It was awesome.

The AWACS fleet is based at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. I used to see them all the time. One of my uncles was a commmunications officer and flew on one for several years.

You are right, they are neat. Especially when the dish is rotating.

The 707 started it all for me. Ttyymmnn and I flew on them to go visit Mom at Christmas. I can even remember the pilot standing on the brakes while spooling up the turbojets. Early 70s.
