STRATOVISION! Westinghouse and Martin Aircraft teamed up to turn B-29s into TV broadcasting relay antennas. Flying at 30,000 feet they could broadcast a signal 238 miles.

They figured they could broadcast signal to 78% of the U.S. with 14 aircraft.

Apparently the planes were used to broadcast propaganda during the Vietnam war. They were eventually replaced by EC-121s, which were replaced by EC-130s in subsequent conflicts.
