I think it is. What’s your favorite four-popper sound?

my abarth tickles my fancy a lot so does the new 124 abarth. However that’s my thought without putting any thought in to my answer

I’m not a big fan of 4 bangers, but the one in my SRT-4 didn’t sound bad on the inside. I’m not gonna go looking for a YouTube video of one with a stock exhaust because that’ll probably take me forever.

You never said it had to be a car. 500cc, 2 stroke, V4. It can only by the Honda NSR500.

I like the traditional Subaru rumble and am a bit sad that mine doesn’t do it. Damn equal length header.

The one that revs the highest maybe? From all production vehicles, the Kawasaki ZX-2R (or ZXR250 or ZXRR) from ~1990 goes the highest. The brave little 250ccm engine pushes over 20k rpm in the models without limiters.
The other possibility would the largest 4-cylinder engine ever to power a car. This would be the Fiat S76 with a 28 liter airship engine.

I believe 4-cylinders sound better with a turbo. They don’t sound great by themselves, but give them another noise maker, and they can make awesome noises. Stock, the Abarth wins.

Both the turbo and non-turbo Boxer engines can sound great!

I love the typical Subaru flat-four rumble, which I already posted in here, but I also really love the sound of the 20V 4AGE engines:
