I bought Dirt Rally for PS4 the other day since it was only $30...holy crap is it hard. I haven’t played a racing game since Gran Turismo 3. I suck. Looks like someone will be practicing quite a bit.
Any one else playing it?

Hmm, I bet I could get Dirt 2 or 3 on the PS3 for super cheap now!

The difficulty is a big appeal to alot of us. Just finishing a stage clean becomes an accomplishment.
A word of advice. Don’t try to go balls out all of the time. Racing clean is hugely important in this game. Driving like a grandma is generally faster than going all out and having collisions.

I’ve got Dirt3, still waiting for a decent steam sale to pick up the latest unfortunately.

Do you have a wheel? I couldn’t even imagine playing it with a controller...

I’m playing earlier in the Dirt series but my god is it hard. Good, but hard.

No wheel, just a controller. I think I may have figured out my birthday present this year lol

Yea, it’s fun and a huge challenge. I just suck right now

Yea, I have to get back into that mode. Like I said, I haven’t played a racing game since Gran Turismo 3...well a real racing game at least. Not the arcade style ones.

The previous versions of the game don’t hold a candle to the new one. They’re much more arcade-y, while the new game is very much a racing sim.

Yeah a decent wheel and pedal setup is a must for this game, as it generally is with any racing sim.

You will never master it.

If you find the original DiRT games extremely hard you are going to break several controllers when you play DiRT Rally. It is on a completely different level.

O man...

Yeah, DiRTS 1-3 are meant to be fun, beatable, and semi-arcadeish. DiRT Rally is effectively a training sim.

Well I can’t wait to get a system that supports it

Fuck. That’s awesome. I want that setup

Any recommendations on setups? I’ve never looked at them before

Well I havent got the fancy new system. That is good to note though, I was hoping it would be like Grand Turismo but in the dirt.

I use the latest one from Logitech (the G920), which works on both PC and xbone. The G29 would be the version for PS4 and PC. It’s a pretty decent wheel/pedal/shifter setup for under $300. Certainly not the best, but definitely one of the best values.
If you wanna get something that will be better quality, basically provide an even more enhanced realistic feel, then you’d want to look into a Thurstmaster setup. These are higher quality and provide better feedback, but can get a lot more expensive since you usually have to buy some of the pieces separately, shifters usually aren’t included with wheels/pedals and you can even get to where you buy all the components separately (wheel hub, steering wheel, pedals, and shifter all on their own).

It’s more like Project C.A.R.S. or Assetto Corsa on dirt. If you ever played Richard Burns Rally, this is the new, better version of that.

Oh wow that sounds sweet then. Too bad I dont plan on ever upgrading my console. It is primarily a Netflix/Amazon box for me with the ocassional game here or there. Newer PS3 games are still in 1080p so it feels like the future anyways.
