Hotter versions of hot hatches aren’t actually new. Renault has perfected that game with new special editions that are released every year or so. Now VW has decided to join the party with the R360S which they co-developed with tuning house ABT. Just like the special Renaults, the 360 part of the name means that it has 360 horses (460 Nm of torque), 6MT or DSG, winter tires as standard equipment, for a starting price of 50k €. They will build 220 cars, 55 of which will be wagons. Oh, and you won’t be able to buy one on VW’s home turf. See the plates? And the mountains? For some weird reason they are exclusive to Switzerland.

Whilst the Estate is cool, why not just buy an RS4 Avant? Not as exclusive but surely more fun....

No manual (8spd auto only) for 2016 and around 11k € more.

A new RS4(not available at the moment) is roughly double the price of that Golf, though. So that could be a reason.

It’s not that weird that they are only available in Switzerland. It probably was an idea of the Swiss Volkswagen importer, they probably just order 220 cars from the factory, and send them past ABT before they come to Switzerland.
Subaru did something similar with Cosworth in the UK, if I recall correctly.
