This rental M-Sport X5 has some silly ///M touches like the key fob and aluminum dead pedal (the 2 real pedals are just plain rubber). The M steering wheel is really really nice though.

My real ///M key fob doesn’t even have that on it.

I wonder if it unlocks the doors 0.3% faster?

Rental? Sixt outside of NA? BMW on demand?

Sixt in Netherlands. Reserved a BMW 1-Series or similar. Got this. I’m guessing it was just what they had available since I made the reservation last minute.

Not bad. I had an X5 from Sixt Germany last winter, a decently optioned model, but just a 30d. I once reserved an E/5er but got a 7er, that was cool.

Yep this was a 30d as well, but had full kit - all the safety gizmos like the 360 degree camera and power hatch. Probably saved a little fuel over a bigger motor. Still was pretty cool since we reserved a 1-series, though part of me was hoping to get something that doesn’t exist in the USA to try out.

That’s how mine was equipped - had very nice brown leather seating, natural finish wood, HUD, all of the nannies etc. I had reserved a “LDAR” 6 cyl sedan, they offered me a basic 4 cyl CLS220d and an XJ, both of which I balked at (not a fan of ergonomics in that car). The upsell to a diesel Ghibli was hilarious, and I had already bought the insurance, so I asked what else was there, and took the X5. I was on the road a lot.
Even though a little tight in some places, a good highway cruiser:
