Buddy sent me these pictures from Nashville. In case you dont know, the single cab XD doesn’t really exist yet so... heres you’re first look. Apparently there were two caravaning. They are also quite dirty which is weird for Nashville.
Bonus points if you can guess the car (it’s super easy).

I wanna say Ford Focus ST.

Or RS.

Yep! Not like everyone has one and the gauges are showing but good job anyways.

The new Titan looks atrocious.

Holy wheel gap batman. That just looks awful.

I hate that front end. They have something similar on their NV van and it looks terrible for driving in the city.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:22 |

I sat in a regular cab Titan last week. It was a very roomy cab.

I hate it. I was at the Governors Club golfing and made the joke that I knew we were next to a Nissan Executives house... Everyone was confused until I pointed out the new Titan in the driveway and how they were the only people that would own one.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:24 |

Yeah I was trying to figure that one out. So weird...
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:25 |

At least the cab is roomy so you can forget the absolute nastiness in your sitting inside. The Tundra cab is just as roomy, if not more and the outside looks 100000x better
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:26 |

I don’t really mind it that much.
But it’s such a weird looking truck in the front end at least.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:27 |
|
It sits so high... It doesn’t bother me on the NVs as much but the hood sits almost a full foot higher then the bed and just does not pull it off at all. Sidenote - I saw an NV in no camo running around Franklin with Manufacturer tags on it something like a year before they were released. Those seem like nice vans overall though.

FORD FOCUS

I don't care for the look of the Titan, but I think the Tundra is one of the ugliest pickup trucks of all time.

FoST. I consider it a completely different model then a normal Focus.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:33 |

None of the lines seem to have anything related with each other. It’s kinda like they drew some random lines onto a piece of paper and then overlayed a truckshape onto that and just went with it.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:34 |
|
Maybe that’s what makes me hate these so much but I think how the front sits is still weird. This truck was designed wrong overall though. They took the cool parts of every other truck and then uglified everything.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:34 |

have you seen nissans lately?
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:34 |

It looks like that. The facelift improved it, I’ll give you that, but it’s still a bulbous out of proportion CHUD
I think the new Taco looks good though. Although a friend of mine bought one of those this spring, and literally didn’t make it out of the dealership parking lot before the check engine light went on. Wasted cam and lifters at 6 miles on the odometer.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:34 |

Yup, haha.
The Titan is probably my least favorite out of all the full sized truck for that reason. I don’t like it that much, but I don’t especially hate it.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:36 |

Not trucks at least. Not from the States so we get a different selection of cars here.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:39 |

They are so nice to drive though... I think the Titan looks bulbous and while the Tundra is unnecessarily large, at least it doesn’t look like its about to pop. Also, the size of the Tundra is great for traveling so I give it a pass. My dad who is 5'10" was able to sleep on the back seat while I drove and it was supremely comfortable for 3500 miles we drove it in the first two weeks of ownership. As far as the Taco goes, that happens. Sometimes stuff slips past quality control. i’m an accounting major with supply chain collateral so I get it. If it happened after a few thousand miles, I would be more worried.

The sad thing is this isn’t the only truck that suffers from this. Ford Super duties are just as guilty of this. It makes the wheels look tiny.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:49 |

I’ve always thought the Ford did an okay job of the side badge. THe first gen that had it, it fit nice. The 2nd it was kind of pushed towards the grill. The Titans looks like a blob of chrome got stuck on the side and it makes no sense.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:54 |
|
Single cab, diesel.... Slam it. No stacks because not a power wagon but side exit in front of rear tires. Black exhaust smoke plus white tire smoke...
Also is that one pictured sitting normal or are the drivers just massive because that front end looks like it has some serious pitch to it
![]() 09/20/2016 at 19:59 |

Yet some say the Tundra is still 100000x better looking than Titan. That is a pretty amazing statistic.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 20:14 |

I’m sure they’re nice to drive. My driving impressions of the Titan were that it’s nice to drive too. Granted I didn't drive it nearly enough to make a proper opinion of it. I do think the Tundra looks like it’s about to pop though :)
![]() 09/20/2016 at 20:15 |

I mean, to be fair, I think they’re both ugly. I just think the Tundra is uglier.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 20:20 |

It’s not.
Still has Focus in the name. It’s just like when Neon guys said their SRT’s weren’t Neon’s.
My Cobalt SS/TC is a Cobalt. Even thought the drivetrain and suspension are completely different.

I knew instantly! I reviewed one not too long ago... The FoST is awesome!

Dirty trucks attract less attention. Easiest way to camo them.

It’s like a weird mashup of every Ford F series built from 1997 to now.

This one is pushing around 50 hp up from stock too. It’s fun.

In theory yes. In reality no.

Also, I’m surprised they didn’t tune the VK engine more - well, I may sound ridiculous but why not take a page out of what the GT1 crew did to the VK56DE and tune it a bit more to have an edge over the Toyota Tundra?
![]() 09/20/2016 at 20:47 |

The transmissions can’t handle what they have already. More power would kill them faster. Also if they did beef them up they would probably still keep the transmission computer in the transmission and it would be 10k instead of 5k to replace.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 20:49 |
|
Yeah, I kind of guessed. I’ve never expected the two to handle heavy dut- well, maybe with a bit of modifications, but...
![]() 09/20/2016 at 20:51 |

It’s a Focus. No denying it. ST and RS are trim levels.
It’s fair to add ST when telling people you drive Focus. I always say turbo Cobalt.
What does your registration say under Model?

Maybe if it smokes enough rubber I won’t be able to see it anymore.
![]() 09/20/2016 at 21:44 |

Every time I see a regular cab, short box, V8 Silverado I think to myself: “That is such a terrible truck, but it probably does the best burnouts, ever”. I feel the same about this.

Focus ST! I know I’m late to the game and it has probably been guessed at least 52 times by now, but you know.
I agree, the new Titan was already pretty rough on the eyes, but that looks just horrible. I already dislike the single cab/long bed look, and then with that terrible rake? No bueno.

I doubt any professional that gets a good deal on a diesel work pickup gives a shit about brand or styling. If it gets the job done, it’s gonna get bought, and bought often.
![]() 09/21/2016 at 08:54 |

If they want a good deal on a great pickup, their answer is always going to be Ford. The XD titan is going to be priced above and Nissan would never give the discounts that Ford does.

I had a GE tech come and fix my washer a couple weeks ago who has had myriad issues with a new Taco. He said it was currently at the dealer getting something fixed with the rear window leaking, which would be about its third stint so far, he says.
![]() 09/21/2016 at 09:08 |

Interesting. After my friend finally got his new truck (credit where credit is due to Toyota and the dealer, they canceled the sale of that truck and built him a new one), he took it on a long road trip, and the windshield started leaking. Before he could take it in to get it fixed though, he got caught in a golf-ball sized hail storm that smashed the windshield to bits anyways. He just got it back from the bodyshop Monday, they had to cut the whole roof off and replace it.

I think your mate just has terrible luck.
![]() 09/21/2016 at 09:22 |

He definitely does. The first time I saw him after the hail storm, I played the Albert King song “Born Under a Bad Sign” when he came in the room.
Previous to the Taco he had the world’s most unreliable Subaru Baja.

I like Nissan trucks, but that is hideous. Its like they split the truck into three sections and gave each section to a different team to design. It simply does not flow at all.
![]() 09/21/2016 at 20:45 |

The one I drove had 253whp and 330wtq!
Shameless plug:

Are they using the same front doors as they use on crew-cab models? Something looks weird here.

Its 2 trucks combined. Its awful.
