Saw on Yahoo! Yes I still use Yahoo. I know its like AOL not but old habits die hard.
I used to do civil engineering and environmental remediation at Beale so it holds a fond place in my heart. I have fond memories of doing a sewer survey and having the U2's doing touch and gos 100 yards away.

Sorry, I had to. It really shitty that this happened and someone, other than Bono, died.

Well shit, I didn't know one of the pilots died. Now I feel bad about making a funny on the FP story. I thought they both lived.

Bono is not a bad guy, he has filled Boeings with humanitarian supplies for places who need it. I like U2, Achtung Baby and before.

No worries, the FP thread was hilarious. The initial report was they were both fine.

Two seater is a training or passenger version, it is tricky to fly from. What I hear, hard to correct stalls etc.. thats too bad. I have always wanted to go up in one, the James May video is amazing.

The thing is hard to fly period, especially at lower speeds IIRC. Having something go wrong on takeoff is probably the worst time, for any airplane for that matter.

I just remember the pilot talking to James May and he commented on how tough it was and only experienced pilots fly them.

When there is an opportunity to pun, take it.

They are amazingly awkward on the ground, but once in the air it is apparent they are meant to soar. I really enjoyed seeing them fly around Beale. To bad I was there after they killed the SR-71, that would have been a sight to see.

Yeah it would be nuts to see a blackbird fly by. I used to see B1s fly low in MT when I was a kid.

The final straw came when aa year ago, I had an iOS screw-up, had to wipe my phone and reinstall from a back-up. When I turned my phone back and found my music collection gone, replaced with that damn U2 album that I had previously avoided.

So I grew up in Missoula and remember sonic booms in the late 70's and early 80's and they looked like B-1's. Is that what was flying overhead? I am guessing they were part of NORAD and flying nukes out of Greatfalls?

My dad has a bunch of land and I would go fix a fence or something and wooooooshhhhh pretty low. Yeah the ones I saw were b1bs for sure. I would see Broncos too, the BLM flies those, I love Broncos.
