Im leaning towards NP here.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

np, np, np, np...gets to last picture...YIKES! maybe not NP.

Maybe if the body was flawless.

Well youd operate on the assumption it needs a total engine rebuild regardless. It whether its cheap enough that you could rebuild the engine, paint it and still have less in it than a good example is worth.

What do these things sell for there that a rusted-to-shit one that hasn’t run in 20 years gets what would be a kind-of running price here?
![]() 09/12/2016 at 13:34 |

An engine rebuilt is one thing, but the brake booster, the radiator, the hoses...everything must go. There is a lot of money about to be sunk into that car.

The way I see it, these are worth good money and appreciating. Therefore worth restoring. That said it isnt a turbo so thatll hurt it.

well, that’s roughly 1300 USD; if you’ve got a source for parts and the time to work on it then it might be worthwhile.
though I wonder why it looks like a family of mice exploded underhood.

Turbos go for 7k-8k looking around to see what a clean NA goes for.

CP - at least by Seattle standards. $2300 gets you this running one with a trash interior but great wheels, mint engine bay and awesomely 70s look:

Very true. I hadnt necessarily thought this all the way through haha.

Because thats probably what happened.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 13:39 |

Ah maybe I overestimated their worth.

Didn’t realize it was a turbo. Still, I’d think you’d want to put a more modern snail in it for less than the price difference. Also, isn’t the turbo fuel injected? What’s with this one having a carb?
![]() 09/12/2016 at 13:46 |

Na it isnt a turbo I mean, I was trying to say turbos are worth more than this is. Didnt word it very well.

I wonder if it's a GSL-SE.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 13:47 |

I think they’ll appreciate eventually, but there’s lots around that have been cared for and run. The difference between a runner/non-runner isn’t enough to justify restoring one like that. Mind you the one I posted is an early car, the later fuel injected GSLs are more pricey here, but a super mint example is still in the $5-6K range here. Again though, they don’t rust in Seattle, so they are still pretty common.

Rotary rebuilds aren't cheap here in the states.

Is there a NP for an RX-7? Maybe where they pay you to take it away?
![]() 09/12/2016 at 14:22 |

Regardless of your opinion on them, they do bring good money now, especially the FD and higher spec FCs.

WTH is Gumtree? Now I have another venue to search for cars/parts? I can’t keep up.
On a side note, I had a buddy who had a GSL-SE and that thing was a riot. My neighbor down the road has a restored one too.
They are great little cars.

Its basically the UKs Craigslist.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 14:47 |

What are FD and FC?
When those cars were new, and I was a kid in the early 80s, we thought the RX-7 was hella cool. Now, not so much.
For my money, and from that era, I’d rather have one of the Datsun Z-cars. Straight-six, five-speed.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 14:59 |
|
The two newest models. I love the Z cars but theyre nigh impossible to find here.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 15:07 |

I think they’d be a tough find anywhere. Among the newer cars, I’d probably look at the Toyobaru/BRZ. My nephew-in-law has one and I may get the chance to wring it out at Thanksgiving this year.

Talking like rx7s are junk but don’t even know the chassis code............
Plus z cars of that era are bloated pigs. Rx7s are good a chassis for track cars and can support tons of engine swaps if rotarys aren’t your thing.

1000 uk money is what in $?
I’d say CP.
in America that would be a 500$ car. Maybe if it was a 79' it could get 1k....
You can get running daily driver sa/fb's for like 2-3k sometimes less.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 15:18 |

Nah carb’d 12a. Which are getting harder and harder to find parts for rebuilds.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 15:31 |

Fair enough, I misjudged the market for these.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 15:34 |

Ill stick with my e36 compact for rwd fun for now. Mostly because Im broke haha, but partly because I really want to swap a bigger engine into it.

Like me, you are entitled to your opinion.
![]() 09/12/2016 at 15:46 |

I would tend to NP, but needs closer inspection
![]() 09/12/2016 at 15:50 |

Yeah I wasnt 100% seriously considering it, but it did interest me.

You sound like the person most qualified to make that claim....
