I’m an old white guy so I’m allowed to like U2 and I fully agree with you. If he would silently contribute to his various causes and publicly stick to music (and take off those fucking glasses every once in a while) it would be much better for all involved.

I, myself, am inclined to disagree.

He seems like a pretty genuine guy. I think the douche vibe mostly comes from the glasses.

Never been a die-hard fan, but I haven’t grown tired of U2 yet.

At first I read that as “Bondo” and I thought, “Yeah, Bondo is douchey, fuck that stuff!”

U2 is like REM — you might not really like them, but it's so damned hard to hate them.

I’m glad I found the disagreement area. For the brief moments of my life that I’m reminded U2 exists, I do not like their music. I do not know enough about Bono’s message to care about it one way or the other. And I think caring about what celebrities think is dumb. Being good at singing or acting does not give you insight into the human condition or global politics.

Like, I won’t go out of my way to put U2/REM on but if they come on the radio I won’t change the station.

Love the guitar parts in many songs but that’s it.
Overall it’s not my thing.

Counterpoint: No, it’s actually not very good at all. I can’t stand U2, at all. And that’s even before I knew what a douche Bono was.
