Much is written in this space about poor reliability from the Maserati brand. Still, I’d like to spend a week wringing one out for 1,000 miles or so. This one appears to be the 410-hp Q4 model. Twin-turbo V6, 3 litres displacement.

For whatever reason, I’ve seen at least five GT convertibles in the last two weeks, and, with the exception of the exhaust note, I'm kind of struck by how underwhelming and generic Maseratis are.

I don’t care about reliability, at some point I’m getting a current Ghibli, it’s my favorite sedan right now.
I do own a mid 2000s air-cooled Ducati, though, so that may tell you about my priorities...

Unexceptional to look at, for sure.

I like sedans. That’s why I'm interested in the Quattroporte.

Yup. Give me my crew cab. There is an ultimate practicality to a four-door sedan, conceived when the point was to install four or five people into a car, have them be comfortable, then go for a ride and look out the windows and enjoy seeing the world go by. For my money, that’s motoring. Add 500 horsepower and go for a ride. All by yourself. That’s jalop, Yo.
