In the case of a project this insane, I'm guessing structural integrity of the masts is more important than a week bit of exhaust rebreathing :D

I’m wondering how well the brakes and diffs/axles work under water.

during the build they mentioned vents, which I know diffs and trans have, and discussed rerouting them. And the locker was compressed air instead of a compressor.
but brakes, I’m assuming standard discs would work VERY poorly in water, or even for sometime after getting out of the water.

Axles have seals, some proper offroad gear probably exists that’s rated to last for submersions, the brakes shouldn’t be affected since closed loop fluid system. Maybe the breather/vent on the brake resevouir, i dunno.

Diffs/axles, depends on what the seep rate through the seals or vents is at about 5.3psi difference in interior/exterior pressure. They would be starting out full of air + gear oil. It wouldn’t be hard to rig a vacuum tank or something with a little air pressure to the vent. to displace. The brakes... well, they’d work a little bit.

It’s actually good for NOx emissions to recirculate exhaust gasses. The notorious EGR stands for this.

For low speed-crawler use i’ll dare say they’d do fine enough, just step harder to press through the silt/water and then it should grind out once you get rotation, but no idea... What wonders me more is the hot turbo into water, but i guess they didn’t idle it for too long beforehand...
