V-Rally 3 for GBA, but more like DiRT Rally, and not for GBA, but for mobile.

This kind of style can be made to work with other racing games, I reckon. Even the DS version of Race Driver: Grid is enjoyable.

Basically, a slightly smoothened and better-colorized version of DS Grid or DiRT 2 (to really make the game on even tablets), but the rest of the game is dressed to the nines with more cars, longer stages (more tracks), a track builder (that isn’t block-based), big online mode, customization and competent driving simulation & wear.

I mean, they’re still mostly sprites, but they behave like, say, cars in Real Racing 3, with extra forgiveness.

PS Vita/PSP have a few rally games, plus support for all the old PS1 games. I think that’s as good as it gets.
