Okay, but don’t let it happen again, or I’ll have to give you a stern talking to.

Once this whole kerfuffle goes down this fall, try zipping the 800 clicks north of the D down the Highway of Heroes, picking up a two-four of Sleeman, grabbing some poutine and a beavertail, zipping up your bunny hug, and hopping out on the Rideau. Give’r enough, and you’ll suddenly want to be one of us hosers.

Everybody’s like “I’m with Hillary” or “I’m independent,” but since I’m Canadian, I’m just sorry for you guys.

The Interior might be getting to me. Looks like I need to go back to the Muskoka chair days.

Nothing beats sitting on a dock in a muskoka chair drinking a beer while fishing. I once had a life, then I got a job in a restaurant.

If it gets too bad down here, you can always build a wall.

A life would be a nice thing to have.

Does teaching pay any better in Canada? Asking for a friend .....
![]() 08/26/2016 at 00:10 |

On average, about $50k CAD a year entry, although if they count 10 years experience, you’ll be making around $80k-100k CAD.

About the same then ... I could live with that.

Sorry.

Canadians know how to riot. It's just for special occasions like the Stanley cup playoffs.

Before taxes...
![]() 08/26/2016 at 10:03 |

Obviously. I take a 10% haircut right off the top for my pension that I’ll never get, because the system will be bankrupt long before I retire. That’s before Uncle Sam and The People’s Republic of Illinoisistan take the rest of their bites out of my carcass.

Meant to be a comment on tax rates in Canada being higher, but looking at it just now, income taxes don’t seem to be much different.
Looking at this, they’re higher up the list than the U.S. - http://www.businessinsider.com/worlds-highest…

I didn’t take it personally. Taxes suck, but they are necessary to an extent. It looks like salary and taxes would be roughly the same for me in Canadia. No idea about cost of living though.

I’d be perfectly fine with taxes if I felt like the money was being used wisely and/or appropriately. The bloat, waste and poor management evident in government makes me more and more of a small government libertarian type as time goes on. Just protect my freedoms, have a decent defense and safety nets for people who need the help and maintain and develop infrastructure.
On the plus side in Canada, it’s pretty and there’s lots of places to explore. I look forward to spending more time up there.

Good luck getting a teaching job here, unless you want to go up north or move to a small town in the prairies.

Even in Tech Ed? There’s a serious shortage of tech teachers here, but if you want to teach english or history, good luck.
