car #1: Cadillac ELR. WAIT DON’T LYNCH ME YET, HEAR ME OUT!
its a modern, comfy, relatively attractive 2 door thats is VERY easy on gas, gets me points with the hippie crowd, is comfortable, and is going to be relatively cheap to service. Fantastic for the DD duties in the winter (FWD helps here too)
Car #2: 1970 Chevrolet El camino on air ride.
okay, this one is a little more complicated. the car: 70 el co. LS3/T56 combo (good for 500HP AND 30 mpg...maybe) big brakes, modern wheels. and key thing? on air ride. Why air ride? Well, this will be my motorcycle/parts hauler! Low bed height makes it easy to load and unload motorcycles, has the power to roast tires and terrify the neighbors, has the classic car part down pat, and its useful! Don’t have to deal with the full height (and fuel economy) of a full sized truck either.
as an added bonus, with no weight in the back, instant drifto-car!
then, 7 or 8 motorcycles as well. the SVX-R, a MT-10, a Daytona 675R, a KTD 1290 ADV....mmmmm
thoughts?

A+ (although I prefer the 70 Elco)

that rough area. I prefer the 2 headlight el cos, but I could live with a 70
EDIT: okay, i thought the 69 was the 70, and the 71 was the 70. need to change the post

Haha, yeah I love all Elcos. The 65 is also quite the looker in the style you described:

I can find no flaws in this plan.

Yeah. Some motorcycles could fit in the back.

You seem overly focused on fuel economy when fantasizing.

NO.
If you go air ride, at least do it right, That means a 1959 El Camino

let me put it this way....bikes, as fast and as powerful as they are, use borderline JACK. SHIT. for fuel.
what other machine on earth can do this:
and STILL get 45MPG?
why spend the money on fuel when I can spend it on parts or more bikes?

bleh, hated that body style. and the sir ride is for function, not looks

Huh? What’s happening here, Peter? Why did you bring that up? I was just making an observation. I thought it was funny that you mentioned fuel economy twice coming up with two dream cars.

lol 45mpg... my CBR 1000RR got 30 mpg on premium. I always joked that it was cheaper to drive my car.

You need a Duc in your motorcycle stable. That is all.

meh. maybe an 1198 track bike.
![]() 08/24/2016 at 13:11 |

no, the BMW actually gets 45MPG. its great.

I stopped listening at modern wheels.
![]() 08/24/2016 at 13:26 |

I hate classic wheels. impossible to find tires and shit for it.
I’m not into the restore with the correct over spray. fuck that shit.
![]() 08/24/2016 at 13:41 |

They do make wheels that look right, I have a 240z and I have 1" larger than stock rims. That looks like an East LA gang banger car.
![]() 08/24/2016 at 13:55 |

Sure... they say that for the CBR too. I guess if you drove it like a car. But I never saw anything close to that.

bring it on

Over the course of a tank?
![]() 08/24/2016 at 14:40 |

oh god no, I couldnt restrain myself that much.
but it did have an instant fuel econ meter, and I did see 45mpg while cruising around. tthheennn I got on the gas. oops
![]() 08/24/2016 at 14:47 |
|
Ah okay, that makes more sense then. Yeah my CBR probably “got” that too, but when say it “gets” 45mpg, you’re implying that it will get that as an average over a trip, or for a tank of gas, not just an instant read out. At least that is how I interpret it.
My truck sometimes reads out 35 mpg cruising on the freeway, but it only “gets” 20 mpg.

it really depends on how I feel like riding. there have been tanks on my bike where its been entirely light highway cruising.
there have been tanks where its been entirely 7K-redline hooning on the mountains. so I actually go by the listed figures
![]() 08/24/2016 at 14:50 |
|
7K? What is this? A red line for ants??
![]() 08/24/2016 at 14:51 |
|
7k- redline....7k to redline. (which is 11 on my bike)
![]() 08/24/2016 at 14:55 |
|
Oh okay that makes more sense. Is that a liter too? I had a lot of trouble getting to red line on my bike. It went 100mph in first at redline.... so I didn’t get there too frequently. Part of why I sold it.

![]() 08/24/2016 at 16:12 |

Okay, that makes more sense. Now I’m missing my 600. Someday soon...

I rest my case
