But I’ve got a built project, so none of that matters.
Pics of the whole project tomorrow, I’m gonna pass out now.

Is that scorched cedar? It looks great.
I’m busy putting in hardwood (mixture) reclaimed railway ties as a path. I had no idea what it would like when I put it in the design, but I think it’s gonna be rather good in the end.

Wow, that is coming out great. How’d you get the ties?

There’s a reclamation yard near me that has a seemingly permanent stock of them. A lot of the British railways still use the wooden ties, and a few up here are being renovated with concrete ties so these are available quite readily. There’s also the added benefit that they’ve been bottom sealed with bitumen and treated twice a year. Some of these are 30 years old and there’s not a single bit of rot in them :)

Very nice! I am very interested to see the finished project.

Nice! That’s looking really good.
Yeah, it’s all charred cedar. The project sits in a burn area, so the char helps protect it from fire.

How is it fixed? Looks like alu tubes and spacers, but it’s hard to see. I’d love to steal the idea though :)

Steel tubes and spacers, completely internal.

Well I suppose that would make sense of it’s in a burn area. Silly me.

Aluminum would have been more expensive and harder to weld on. The whole thing weighs around 3500 pounds.
