My friend just listed his 2006 Viper for sale yesterday. Since Doug’s article demands he buy a Viper, he should buy this one because it is fate. If it meant the Viper could stay in his life in video and article (and perhaps obituary) form for a little longer, he’d love to sell it to Doug.
Also Doug if you read this, he bought it when he was 24 and is still alive. So if a 24 year old self described “squishy teddy bear" can avoid death in the Viper, you should be able to as well.

Does it come with a voice synthesizer that will taunt you to drive faster?

It would but it's pointless because you can't hear it over the engine.

the next Dougcar will most likely be a CarMax car, and as of right now, they have zero vipers.
edit
Scratch all that since he now works for Autotrader

am I the only one who is extremely bummed about him buying a viper? wouldn’t a unimog or a Japanese kei car be way more satisfying?

That's kind of the interesting thing about the Viper. It's built up such a reputation as being dangerous and a monster that surpasses what the actual car is like. It is loud and powerful but it certainly isn't as outrageous as plenty of other cars. I think Doug should do a Viper to get it out of the way for future DougCars and maybe even dissolve a bit of the mystique that they have.

Get that out of here, I’m trying to make a sale!
But in all seriousness, I did think of that. If Doug goes for a Viper, it'd probably need to be the most outrageous Vipery Viper he can find.

No! Doug has to buy a Smart Car, and show us all how smart a car it really is.

Doug's gone from writing on Jalopnik but he's still continuing on Autotrader. He's also commented on a few things since he left writing for Jalopnik so he still hangs around at least a little.

I’m 100% with you. Every week will just be, “I’m still alive!” And when the Viper does eventually kill Doug, there won’t be more Doug posts. :(
