You need to find a new social setting

Yes, that is a very recognisable situation. Even at university sometimes people change subject when I start talking about cars, and that is in a group of people majoring in Automotive.
Have you also come across people who think they know cars, and respond to you with complete nonsense? I think in that case I rather have people walking away instead of people talking bullshit.

Non-car people are WAY more fun on a night out :)

Isn’t that the worst feeling?

Frequently. It’s better not to correct them because they’re convinced they’re right.

And then MRW someone actually brings up cars out of the blue:

Yes, you are right. In the past I used to correct them, but people tended to think I was a know-it-all due to this, so that’s why just gave op on correcting the facts and just let them think they are right.

Pleasantly surprised the other night in game chat playing with some friends on XB1 and called someone out for their gamertag being close to VTEC and apparently I’ve been playing with a full group of car guys. Talked cars for a couple hours while shooting shit and sending each other pictures of our cars. I love car people. We’re such cool people
