Met a buddy for lunch yesterday and got a bonus visit - The first operational USAF F-35 flying by.

Its not like a got a great view or they were doing anything interesting, but it was nice to be able to physically feel, see and hear my tax dollars being squandered*, instead of just reading about it.

*half joking

On the plus side, my buddy said his Lockheed Martin stock took a jump up.

Also, $8 for an excellent tritip sandwich, side and drink? yes please.

Wow...cool. I just saw the F-22 for the first time a few weeks ago (actually about 15 of them over 2-3 days). One of them came down over the beach at about 1,000' and pulled hard left into a tight (probably 6g+) turn over the water. It was a love/hate feeling about the tax money. Then I saw some Warthogs and started jumping up and down with excitement. I can't say it enough: Gulf Coast beaches are the best beaches for so many reasons.

Really? I’ve always thought the Raptors were relatively quiet... then again, that’s compared to Super Hornets which are loud af.

I’ve only seen them at airshows, so I can’t say what they are likely opperationally, only that when they are heading away from you they sounds like Oden’s pant tearing farts.

Oh don’t get me wrong, F-22's will get your attention from miles away (and I looooove the whine they make!), but compared to a Super-18 they’re pretty quiet.

That said, last airshow I went to had demos from the -16 (Thunderbirds), -18, and -22. The -18 was the only one I had to cover my ears for. All of them were eargasmic
