Well because Kinja is shit until New Kinja comes out then Old Kinja was great - I actually preferred the old setup because even with no notifications you could click the lightning strike and reply to replies. On this one you either have a new notification or nothing at all, no placeholder, zilch. You have to open the drop-down and click notifications which seems clunky.

My PC at home still has the old layout whereas my work PC has the new layout.
I don’t mind a layout change, but it just seems completely pointless to me - the black bar adds links to other Gawker sites but there was already a buttom that had that functionality.
