What nameplate that’s no longer in use should be brought back for a completely different bodystyle of vehicle? Chrysler found success with a Charger sedan and Pacifica minivan. I wouldn’t mind if Chrysler brought back the Imperial name as a Ram 1500-based SUV attacking the Yukon and Navigator in comfort and amenities. What nameplate do you want to see return as something different?

Rambler would work for a small crossover vehicle, if Jeep didn’t already have the Renegade. They could still use it for a trim level or something.

I think LeSabre could make a comeback as a fullsize Holden Calais-based Buick.

Used to be
4 barrel, 4 speed, dual exhaust
Maybe Now
4wd, 4 cylinder, twin turbo
Attach it to a tarted up Buick crossover.

Yes please. Best selling full sized sedan in America and now we have something named after a sport where you run around with a catcher’s mitt on a stick flinging a ball at each other.

I like to see old nameplates return, but not as completely different cars. It was a good idea to bring back Monte Carlo , but sad to see the name given to a FWD Lumina coupe.
I hope the
Viper
name doesn’t get resurrected as anything but a RWD sports car.

The Imperial should be a big luxury car to compete with Bentley and Rolls. GM’s counterpart would be the Cadillac Fleetwood (while the Cordoba, Deville, and Town Car would be 7-series/S-class rivals).
The Viper name should also make a comeback (having recently been killed).
Real names for Acura, Cadillac, Lincoln, and Infiniti.
The El Camino, Ranchero, and Rampage should be brought back too! And they even sell them in Australia!! Over here, Chrysler could sell them as the Page, under their Ram brand. Ram Page ;)
I also think Chrysler made a mistake by renaming the T&C, as it was an iconic name, it and the Caravan being the original minivan and still the best-seller (and even the #1 car in Canada)
The Pacifica name would’ve been better used as the big SUV rival you mention. Or possibly an R-class type thing.

Honda Del Sol but as a RWD targa top, to go up against the Miata RF. But a bit softer looking than the Miata, the Del Sol name wouldn’t work on a car that looks angry like the ND.
Dodge could bring back the Lil Red Express, but as a Charger based Ute.
Chevy could bring back the Corvair name , but as a more dedicated sports car, with an LS in the back!

That Pacifica looks good. Four words I never thought I'd say.

I think Acura should go back to using names anyway. Their three letter naming scheme is to confusing. I don’t know what a ILX is or what it’s supposed to do.

Honda should bring the Prelude back as a true sports car. Use the CTR powertrain, but make it mid-engined.

Celica: “sporty” compact CUV just beneath the RAV4. Toyota has made some silly/quirky/charming concepts along those lines. I think the youths would buy a ton of them.

Ha, I bet most people won’t even get that you’re referencing the C-HR that will be on sale soon! That’s probably what the C stands for and partly why the Scion tC won’t have a true replacement with the Toyota switch.

I think the Chevy SS should have been brought back as a Chevelle.

Crown. Corona. Cressida. Carina. Celsior. Century. Curren. Chaser. Corolla. Cresta. Cynos. Camry. Coaster. Carri. Comfort. Condor.
dC-HRoesn’t mean Celica. Toyota just has a fetish for the letter C. And it’s fits the modern mess that is the definition of Coupe.

GM alone has a book it could fill with unused names but if I had to pick one, it would be Chevelle as a four door Camaro. Let’s be honest here, the ATS really should be a Chevy with CTS being the smallest Cadillac and the flagship Chevrolet sedan should essentially be a four door Camaro. Small block in front, stick in the middle, power to the back.

Is the ILX an Integra replacement, hence the “I"?
![]() 07/18/2016 at 00:08 |

The Camero has a turbo 4 now right? So just put that turbo 4 into a slightly smaller RWD can and slap a Buick badge on it.

Not a bad idea, the SS would probably sell better if they carlled it a Chevelle, and it looked better.

The funny thing is, GM only planned on it selling 2000 a year and it’s beaten that number every year, selling nearly 3000 in 2015. The car is technically a success.
I can’t imagine how well it would sell if it had smaller and modern engine offerings, a more modern design and some marketing.

If the Pacifica ends up being a success, GM should bring over the Buick GL8 from China to compete and call it Roadmaster.

Personally I still think this is a stunning vehicle. I also think that FCA can use a modified version of either the LX platform or the current Grand Cherokee platform to pull it off too. Not as a crossover, just a damned sturdy sedan. Flagship to rival S600 Maybach, 760Li, XJL, A8L etc... and make them in limited numbers (less than 1000) and on an order only basis similar to Rolls Royce. Starting price is $95K with top of the line models kissing $250K with bespoke options as hand carved wood, crystal and gold handled, silver plated framed umbrellas, 8 piston brake calipers with 2 piece carbon ceramic rotors etc etc etc... They can draw from history for design, use current tech and knowledge from racing for the brakes, cooling, powertrain, and look to the future for tech such as touch screens, i-Junk conectivity, individual AV inputs and the numerous safety features required to keep a 6500lb vehicle a non threat to its passengers.

Also only engines available: 392 Hemi (Allegro trim because rich people like classical music), Hellcat (known as the “Vivace”), or a supercharged version of the Viper V10 around 800hp and 950tq (Presto trim) all offered with automatic transmissions, because opulence, all available with either RWD or AWD.
Again, Chrysler fanboy...
