Kinja'd!!!

So I just picked up this beauty at an auction.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

It actually went through the auction a couple weeks ago but the buyer bailed and I got a second chance. It was between this and a Mercedes S600, but the Mercedes went too high for my wallet to reach. It is a 1991 750iL with 120k miles. Drove it about 20 miles home and it runs great besides a shaking over 60(wheels need balanced) and It blew a little smoke under heavy acceleration(hoping its just because its been sitting a while, but expecting the worst.) A few small dents but otherwise very clean inside and out. Just needs a good cleaning. I definitely tasted the German koolaid and found it to my liking. If anyone has experience with these cars or engines I would love some tips.

I'm terrified of BMWs but that is a sexy car. Looking forward to more posts about it.

Despite the complexity, my M3 has been a lot more reliable than my explorer was.

I’m certainly not experienced enough with them to back up my argument. I think it’s honestly an “inherited” bias - they were the one make my dad avoided at all costs when I was a kid, and this is a man who tried to DD a ‘76 XJS.

Awesome! For oem parts for bmw’s I like to use FCP euro, turner motorsports, ecs tuning, and a few other sites. FCP euro offers a lifetime warranty on all parts, which is nice. Bimmerfest is a good resource as well.

I think the problem is that they can be expensive to repair if they break, and it seems people equate expense to unreliability. I did have an $1100 part break on me, but apparently it’s a common fault. Who else makes a V8 that revs to 8300 that you could DD? I sure some people have horror stories, but mine has been pretty solid in the 2 years I’ve thrashed owned it. It at least starts every time I want it to, unlike my explorer, which likes to play at times “am I gonna start today” roulette.

The back is great for sleeping in at 0400 while the supervisor drives to the well site. My former company had F250s, and that truck was great for blasting down lease roads at 60. You got the diesel?
