Over the last two years, there have been 94 cases of somebody throwing rocks at traffic in I-35 all along the interstate through Austin. At first, police believed the rocks were being dropped from overpasses, but then they said that it was likely the perpetrator was throwing them from the opposite lanes of of the highway. There have been three serious injuries as a result, and a lot of broken windshields and damaged cars. Today, APD announced that they have arrested a suspect, and that is fantastic news. Hopefully they have the dirtbag, and these assaults will stop.

Thank god. 35 is terrifying enough without having to worry about these pieces of shit. Hopefully this guy helps with investigation and gets charged with attempted murder.

Agreed. I’ve been avoiding I-35 at night, and going north on MoPac, with all the lane closures at night, is a royal PITA.

In Nebraska several years ago we had a case where several teens were throwing frozen pumpkins off of an overpass onto passing cars. Attempting to cause serious property damage and dangerous injuries seems like about the dumbest “fun” thing you could possibly do, and sure enough one of the pumpkins went through the windshield of a big rig, killing the passenger. I have no idea if they ever caught the suspects, but all I can hope is that each and every one of them gets hit and killed by a gas tanker.
