Why

Really, for commuting to the city and not giving a crap about hurting a car, it’s great. But I would at least aspire to a Fiat Abarth for a small fun car.

Nah

Why not?

I’m all for attainable goals, and I think you have one here.

I could send you mine in the mail, I think it’s light enough.
But really, why would you want one?

ALL ALL all all....

I mean, it’s light, efficient, practical, and cheap.

I’d recommend a pre-facelift coupe on a nice set of coilovers with aftermarket sway bars and a short shifter.

They are awesome cars that will give you many enjoyable miles. And up there, you even got the sporty RS hatchback. Too bad we never got the Echo hatch.

If your goal is build a hypermiling, ultra reliable car it’s going to be perfect, but as a DD, the seats are uncomfortable, the interior rattles , it is quite unstable at highway speeds and it’s not really well insulated.
I think I would hate it less if ours had a/c or any features at all...

I would love a first-gen Echo hatch! :)

The RS was to the regular Echo what the S was to the regular Corolla. It had some nice outside extras, but under the hood it was exactly the same. Wish they brought over the TS, which actually had an upgraded engine.

To be honest, I wouldn’t mind a Metro/Firefly either.

ooo yeah a TS would be awesome! But there is certainly nothing wrong with the 1NZ we did get.
The Echo would be a great place for a 2ZZ :)

I knew someone with a Suzuki Swift sedan, it’s a pretty similar formula to the echo but it sits lower to the ground and its an older design overall, still both are really economical and reliable.
Although if I had to choose i’d go for the echo as it is roomier and more powerful.

There’s a distinct Yaris echo to that Echo.

only if it is a blue hatch

I’m still confused why they had to change the name everywhere.
The JDM name is “Vitz”, the Euro name is “Yaris” and the US name is “Echo”.
Toyota decide already pls.
But yeah, not a bad little car. It does its job.
I prefer the hatch myself, but Mr Regular did have the saloon model after all.
