GIMME. If this was near me I’d have a very hard time not making a stupid decision. Look at that rear window! It’s HUGE. AAHHHHH

This is tempting considering i have a wrecked but driveable 4cy 1989 sitting in my driveway with a good drive train. However I just bought my wife a new $$$$ mountain bike. If it’s anything like my isuzu everything you can’t see is solidly rusted toghether. Like I can’t even remove the shocks, or brake lines, or drive lines....

I can smell that interior and it smells like high school.
Surprisingly rust free. My ‘91 was a swift kick away from crumbling into a brown pile when it finally went to the crusher.

If I was in the same country, I possibly could. Otherwise I'll keep looking for local ones

I have owned 3 different troopers 4 different times : an 84 2 door, an 87 four door, an 89 four door, and the 87 again. (It’s a long story). Avoid them, unless you plan to replace that boat anchor of an engine with something else.
My suggestion in such a case would be the V6, being as it’s a GM 2.8. supposedly swapping it over to the 3.8 isn’t a horrible ordeal.

If you really want one, try and find the 89 trooper RS. it came factory with 31" tires and a 90" wheelbase. The 2.6 is okay, not great. It had head casting issues. Also all those old troopers except for the V6 had mechanical lifters that need adjustment every year or so. The problem is most people never adjusted them and they ended up with burnt valves.

The diesels are incredibly rare in the states. I’ve never seen one.

Wow! Childhood flashbacks. My dad bought one exactly like this one new, followed three years later by a brand new 1988 red 4 door. We drove them both all over the country on family vacations, using cb’s to stay in touch. As a third child in the 80's I rode in the very back on most trips. Good times!
The white one kept blowing head gaskets on us, so we got rid of it. Many years later, in highschool, I ended up selling the red one to a car buddy of mine, who lovingly cared for it and then passed it on to his little brother. He proceeded to pull out in traffic and got t-boned.

That’s a $2500-$3000 truck here in the Midwest. I’m not even close to joking.

Smells like high school for me would be axe body spray, frustration, and camel Turkish gold.
