In an attempt to sell my car, I joined a few local for sale groups on Facebook. This is the shit I have to contend with.

Thats nothing compared to FB honda pages

I... I don’t get it. An 02 lancer for a GSXR doesn’t seem too bad at all. A quick look at my local CL shows an ‘02 GSXR 600 goes for $3800, which is a bit much for an ‘02 Lancer non-Evo with a rebuilt title but not entirely outside the realm of reason.

Like 90% of the cars on these groups are trashed Civics, but I honestly can’t even imagine how toxic an all-Honda FB group is

imagine people with 1k asking for a clean k swapped hatch with a clean title and low miles...or people with a half rusted ek with a poorly done swap asking 10k OBO with a trade for (insert unrealistic car here).

That’s still probably the nicest car in Bucyrus.

No low ballers. I know what I have.

Maybe it’s a local thing. I had one that took me more than 2 months to sell at $800 (probably because auto, admittedly). Stock, ran well, everything worked, no rust, replaced a few things. I had it on Craigslist, local and national FB groups, forums, took it to car meets, you name it. People just kept flaking on me.

To be fair I think most of the asking price is for the 1 original tire.

He wants almost fucking LS1 money for that!?!?

The price is oddly specific.

That is the kind of person who should never be within 50ft of a motorcycle, let alone own one

Meanwhile, my stock, clean, running 1991 Prelude took me 2 months to sell for $800.

I read that as $800 and was like, hey that may be a fair price (next lemons car?)...then I read again.
NO LOWBALLERZ I KNOW WHAT I HAS!

Really? I need to hang out in Facebook Honda groups so I can snag a nice Prelude. It seems like they’re impossible to find reasonably priced.

I was speaking from my own experience. I had a decent 3rd gen that I sold a couple years ago to fund the engine swap on my 5th gen. I had it listed on Craigslist, local Honda groups, local and regional Prelude groups, took it to car meets. Still took me 2 months to sell it for $800. It was auto, but it made a great DD.
I’ve been thinking about making a buyer’s guide for 5th gens. They’re usually in the $3-4k range here.

That does look nice, especially for the price.
I’d appreciate a buyer’s guide on 5th gens. I’ve wanted one since they were new, but by the time I got my license (2006) and then had the money to buy something cool (2009), most were riced into the ground. Having a buyer’s guide would help me wade through the crap for when I finally get around to shopping for one.

Yeah, there is a lot of crap out there. The biggest thing about buying a 5th gen is to avoid automatics. They’re notorious for failing out of nowhere.
![]() 06/01/2016 at 14:52 |

It seems like Honda couldn’t make an automatic that didn’t randomly explode during that era. I’d go for a stick for sure...which is part of the reason why they’re so commonly riced out.

Yeah, when looking through Craigslist earlier today, the only totally stock ones were automatics. There were one or two decent manuals.
If this one had better pics, it would be a pretty good look. The tan interior was only available on green 97-98s like this one:
