Rules: The car/truck had to be sold brand new in 1950
I am not sure I need to explain myself here. The XK120 speaks for itself.

I’ll take a Buick Roadmaster, please.

XK120 is my answer too, but in BRG.

Commodore for shor. It wasn’t yet obvious that Hudson was heading for the rocks, and it had a lot of nice features. Related, a Nash Ambassador wouldn’t be a bad choice either.
I’m once again excluding the Packard because of trying to keep things within the “what I would have been able to afford” bracket.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:12 |

I’ll take an Alfa Romeo 6C 2500, thank you very much.

The standard of the world baby.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:15 |

I’m not even going to look for anything else.
XK-120 all day.

This 1950 auto transport trailer, because this is a great photo!

Mehr Cedes doesn’t work in 1950, as the only thing they made that year were the ancient 170 and Unimog. Thus Lancia it is. Once again two slightly crappy choices, the Ardea (30hp, 5-speed yo) or the Aurelia. Obviously the Aurelia. Unfortunately only the B10 Berlina is egligible with its glorious 1756cc V6 and 56hp.

Easy. A Delahaye 135 M.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:22 |

Yesterday’s modern roadster today!
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:24 |

How about this Delahaye 135M Cabriolet Atlas ?
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:25 |

I think I would take the Hudson over the Packard anyway. The Hudson Commodore and Hornet are two of my all time favorites
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:26 |

Yeah that is beautiful good pick!
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:26 |

If they are both slightly crappy why not get something else?
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:27 |

The forgetting coach door Lincoln. A good one nevertheless
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:27 |

Good pick that chrome is tastefully placed

The best past is in 1950 they could say that and it wasn't a joke

I prefer mine in an off white to highlight the body lines

I beat you to it by four minutes. ;)

I’m on board with the Jag!

You're the second to post this. Probably because it is one of the best answers ever

I was just thinking about this car last night at work.
1950 Morris Minor Low Light.
The Low Light was the early Morris Minor before U.S. regs said the lights had to be higher and so the Low Light, dimmed.
or more specifically a modded Morris Minor Low Light.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:30 |

Yep.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:31 |

Those are some awesome modifications on a very pedestrian looking car. But they turned it into a little hot rod!
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:34 |

Because I don’t need more to enjoy driving and the worst 1950s Lancia is still the best thing in the world ever. I’d take perfect 50:50 weight distribution, fully independent suspension and radial tires over V8 power and chrome.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:40 |

It’s hard to find anything that compares with the Jag in 1950.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:42 |

Doh! I was distracted looking through the cars on Hemmings.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 09:42 |

There some variations.
More standard

All outlaw, all day.
Am I doing this right?

I’ve already used my favorite truck (48-50 Ford, which I actually own) for what car would I buy in either ‘48, or ‘49,
So I’m going to go with the classiest of pickups available in 1950, the Studebaker 2R
![]() 05/27/2016 at 10:00 |

Damn
![]() 05/27/2016 at 10:05 |

Willys Wagon.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 10:36 |

A 1950 Hudson Commodore Coupe.
If I could grey import one I’d also like a 1590 Rates T600.

Not even aquestion

Genesis!
![]() 05/27/2016 at 11:47 |

Nice Studebaker is an obscure choice but I like it anyway. And I still love that body of Ford truck

Gone are the days of awesome wood paneling
![]() 05/27/2016 at 11:48 |

The Hudson is just beautiful can’t go wrong with that
![]() 05/27/2016 at 22:29 |
|
I’m gonna go with the Tatraplan, I think.
A bit bigger than my tastes would usually go, but damn good looking, great aerodynamics, and unlike the Beetle, not a ripoff of a Tatra, it is a Tatra.
![]() 05/27/2016 at 23:27 |
|
I’d go with a Pacemaker. All the looks and handling, at a fairly reasonable price.
![]() 05/28/2016 at 00:19 |
|
A lot more practical too
![]() 05/28/2016 at 00:20 |
|
These do look excellant I agree

Well, the Kurtis Sports Car was only in production in 1949, and the Munz Jet didn’t take over for it until 1951. So that’s somehow out. I guess I’ll take a Jaguar MkVII.
