I guess revenge is a dish best served cold and what is the point of having “fuck you money” if you can’t say “fuck you” with it?

There’s something funny about dying on the “outing a gay man” hill in 2016. Oh well, Gawker deserves everything that’s coming to them.

Maybe Hulk was done paying lawyers after his experiences a few years back.

I worked for a guy with “fuck you” money once - not nearly as much as Peter Thiel, but enough to say “fuck you” to any employer and not have to work another day in his life.

Yeah I cant say I have much sympathy for gawker as a company here, my sympathy is with the other employees and writers who had nothing to do with the seedier articles. You can claim freedom of speech all you want but if you’re too invasive for things that aren’t all that newsworthy you’re guna get in trouble.

Good.
As much as I love the Oppo community and writers at Jalopnik and LaneSplitte, I really despise Gawker.
Their other sites, like Jezebel and Gawker itself, publish some of the most repulsive “news” I’ve ever seen. It’s gotchya journalism and TMZ-esque rumor based reporting on the most inane garbage, all under the guise of new-age revolutionary digital media/reporting.

There are limits to freedom of speech, you can’t yell fire in a crowded theater and you can’t post sex tapes of private citizens online and try call it “news”. I mean had it been a congressman having sex with a lobbyist while they were negotiating bribes to pass laws then yes, that would be news worthy of the public interest.

At least TMZ is honest about who they are.

Completely agree. Dont they stop to consider what they’d feel like if their sexual exploits were broadcast on the interwebs. I know the answer is no but still.

Exactly.
Gawker tries to act like they’re above that level of journalism, but they’re just as deplorable. Even more so since they think that they aren’t that.

Oh god, I clicked onto the Gawker article about this and started reading comments. That was a mistake. How are there this many ignorant, misguided, and illogical people out there? Like, most people on the internet are just normal people, but how can they think the things they do?! Is it just the anonymity that shuts down the part of their brain that controls logic and reason?
