40% of deaths in the construction industry are from falls over 6' high. That company needs their ass fined for not providing proper equipment for their employees to work safely.

Looks to only be 4' - 5' high at the top of the stairs. Jump up to right side (or use conveniently placed bucket), step over to left side, and walk out. Just don’t slip. And enjoy backing yourself out of there...

As a paid employee, I say AW HELL NAW. However, as a homeowner and rock climber, this is really not bad for short stints. I've done stuff very much like this before. It's a very solid and ergonomic position to be in. His feet are pretty well protected from slippage by the walls, as well. But I wouldn't want to stand like this for more than 2-3 minutes.

I suppose on their mind it’s just one less ladder to fiddle with. I am often amazed that I have still never witnessed a major injury yet.

I mean, if you compare with stuff that roofers do hundreds of times a week, it's pretty mild. But different job description.

Among my favorites are when finished items designed to go in the home can’t actually fit upstairs.

I can’t watch roofers or framers work. So many people with zero fall protection...

Wait... There is an OSHA subreddit? My work productivity just dropped significantly.
