Even with just the one dog, I have to spell the word out or he’s at the door within 5 seconds.

I can’t even spell the word, she knows what that is too. We literally have to say “You-know-what” in reference to walks.

My dog quickly learned “walk”, “out”, “it’s time”, and “w-a-l-k.” It got to the point of anytime we put sneakers on, she’d expect us to go on a walk

If I had a roommate/girlfriend/wife he’d probably know what the spelling meant, but since it’s just me and him he hasn’t figured it out yet.

He starts to get excited when I put shoes on, but at least “out” for him means the backyard.

Ours has even figured out that if we’re putting on lace-up shoes that aren’t polished, there’s a good chance for a walk and he gets fired up.
If we put on polished lace-up shoes, then we’re clearly going to work and he has a sad.
