Found an old screenshot of what may be the most rediculous for sale ad in the history of BMWs. Keep in mind this is back when m6s went for about 10-20k in fantastic condition.

Kinja'd!!!

I hope I never run into this guy, he seems like the worst kind of human.

So basically they wanted to get paid for somebody else to take care of the car.

Why Can’t They Give It To A Family Member Instead Of Selling It?

A *very reasonable* 35k of course.

“—all neccessary maintenence and repair parts must be original BMW E24 M6"

>has non period correct wheels on his car. Nice try though.

Replacing tires is quite the dilemma.

His peasant family might drink something, or engage the handbrake without pushing the button first. Oh the horror.

It has to be done by certified BMW mechanics with BMW certified tools and bolts as well as BMW certified and approved wheels and tires. All that in a BMW certified garage. All preferably in Munich at BMW.

I’m guessing this is Florida, because that’s where a lot of crazy people live. And wouldn’t it be fun for some rich guy to buy it and crush it? Not that I’d ever crush a 635 or 733 (what the car appears to be) but imagine the screaming. And no synthetic oil? Are you fucking kidding me? That prolongs engine life. Used it in an ‘87 300D, an ‘88 Camry wagon 5M, a ‘91 CRX Si, and a ‘97 Ford SHO. And no engine problems on any of them.

California actually if my memory serves me, which I’d say is the number 2 choice for crazies. Twas an m6.

It also turns out the overlap for people who insist that you engage the button on the handbrake, and people who have knowledge of cars/oil/etc is very small.

Fwiw I ran 15w 40 in my e24 until I replaced several gaskets, it now only sees synthetic 15w 50.

Yeah, thicker oil is sometimes called for .... And I love the looks of the front end on those things. Are there any more photos of it? Someone should rescue this thing from this asshole. But, of course, he’ll probably never sell it because crazy.

Here’s what you do: buy the car, do whatever you want because you paid for it, and in 2 years when he wants it back, sell it back at whatever it’s worth or $35k plus interest, whichever is more because basically he’s asking for a $35k loan with the car as collateral.

Such a pretty thing, and photographed so poorly. What do you suppose happened? Guessing it never sold. If I needed a car, I’d buy it at the right price if it’s as presented.

No updates through the forum so I’m guessing the seller either gave up and sold it without the rediculous “terms” or they found a place to store it for the two years they had mentioned.

Indeed - ridiculous terms. Maybe one day it will be rescued.

Unless there's a signed contract, he can't really

Would a contract of this sort even have any legality? I mean, anyone can draft out a piece of paper and have someone sign it, but that doesn’t mean it would hold up in court.

Kinja'd!!! Funktheduck > Sovereign, Purveyor of Coupes

Kinja'd!!!1

No idea really. The money involved is too much for regular small claims court. Not sure a judge wouldn’t just throw it out. Likely the judge would say something along the lines of “you sold it hommie, he can do what he wants.”

But, if they drafted up some sort of papers like it was a loan and the car was collateral, then it might be a different story. Anyone seen Lehto?

To be fair, good on him for maintaining an old car so well.

But he should be putting it in storage. This add is lunacy.

Don’t think I could bring myself to do that. I could certainly enjoy some Carls Jr while doing donuts in the rain. In muddy shoes.
